
It turns out that the men who remodeled our bathrooms used the wrong kind of grout for mosaic tile. They should have used unsanded instead of sanded. The sanded grout immediately started breaking out of the shower/bathroom floor. I got a grout saw and removed a bit more of it to prepare for regrouting.

When we visited David and Sarah a couple months ago, David mentioned that he had just bought a big bag of unsanded gray grout and needed only a tiny bit of it. That worked out good for us!

The only problem with David’s grout was that, although the hazardous materials warnings were written in three languages on the bag, the only instructions about how to use the stuff were wordless drawings. Not good, for someone who had no idea.

In any case, I muddled along and managed to apply it. See how well one’s Pampered Chef spatula works as a “grout float” (whatever that is).

The clean up is tedious. Now I’m waiting for it to dry before sealing it.
