Birding During Office Hours

Yesterday I was scheduled to pick Rachel up in Lewisville after her two days of professional development meetings. The weather was absolutely beautiful–sunny and 75 degrees–I couldn’t resist spending and hour or two birding. I somehow managed to talk Gary into taking the afternoon off and joining me (and I convinced him he doesn’t really need to feel guilty for skipping work since he works all day, all night, half of the weekend and starts work at 6am most days!).

We saw no owls in this box. In fact we really didn’t see many birds in this forest location, with the exception of a fun flock of Cedar Waxwings.

We went to two other locations and did end up seeing several kinds of ducks, including Hooded Mergansers, Lesser Scaup, and Buffleheads.

Then we picked up Rachel, had dinner at Pei Wei, and drove home after rush hour.
