Remember Your Creator, Part 2

Several weeks ago we got an email from a coworker we’ve known since before our wedding–someone who was in the 1974 choir–asking us if we had ever digitized the recording we made of Remember Your Creator. He was asking because he and his wife were doing exegetical checking of the translation of Ecclesiastes into a vernacular language, and the words of the cantata that we had sung nearly 40 years previous were still brought to mind. I guess that is evidence of why the admonitions in Col 3:16 and Eph 5:19 are there. God’s word put to music has a way of sticking in one’s heart.

Ephesians 5:19 NIV
Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord,

Colossians 3:16 NIV
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

Well, it turns out that we were actually able to say yes to our friend’s request, because a few months ago we dug out the crusty old cassette tape with it’s dreadful-quality recording of Remember Your Creator and asked our friend Kevin in the Ethnomusicology department to digitize it for us. After that, I cut it up into the individual songs (using Audacity software) so now we have eight .mp3 files. They are listed here, but these are not live links. If you are interested in having these files, leave a message in the comments below, or send me an email. (But remember they are poor quality!)
