Nativity Ornaments Craft for Kids

I teach 5th and 6th graders at First Presbyterian Church in Duncanville. This year we did a craft project over the weeks of Advent, making five Christmas Tree ornaments that tell the Christmas story.

I got the idea off the internet–it seems putting clear inserts made of transparency film into clear ornaments has been done quite often. Sometimes “snow” is added to make snow-globes. My innovation was to simplify this enough for kids to be able to make their own set and learn the real Christmas story at the same time.  We used stickers for the images, and wrote the Bible references on the back of the five ornaments.

  1. Prophets in the Old Testament told about Jesus’ birth–Micah 5:2 and Isaiah 9:6
  2. Mary and Joseph go to Bethlehem–Luke 2:1-5
  3. Jesus is born–Luke 2:6-7
  4. Angels tell the shepherds about Jesus’ birth–Luke 2:8-18
  5. Wisemen give gifts to Jesus–Matthew 2:1-12
